About the Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are an American professional basketball team based in Indianapolis. The Pacers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference Central Division. The team plays their home games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Pacers were founded in 1967 as an American Basketball Association (ABA) franchise. They joined the NBA in 1976 after the ABA–NBA merger. The Pacers have won three ABA championships (1970, 1972, and 1973) and one NBA Eastern Conference championship (2000).
Some of the most notable players in Pacers history include Reggie Miller, Rik Smits, and Jermaine O'Neal. The Pacers have also had several successful coaches, including Bobby Leonard, Larry Bird, and Rick Carlisle.
